Manufacturing is a vital sector of each county's economy. Tourism businesses tied to the natural beauty and the bountiful fishing in area streams and lakes are important to the economy. Three huge lakes - Bull Shoals Lake, Lake Norfork, and Greers Ferry - dominate the recreation scene, beckoning those who love water sports to fun and relaxation on the waters. Meandering through five counties is the nationally famous White River renowned for its trophy trout fishing, and an equally famous trout stream, the Little Red River, flows through Van Buren County. Visitors flock to the Buffalo National River Park, the first national river in the U.S.A. Area towns feature good recreational facilities for all ages, including parks with walking trails, swimming pools, tennis courts, golf courses, ball parks and soccer fields.
